Preparing the

Next Generation
of Engineers

Every engineer who builds the systems we rely on today was once a student who needed an opportunity.
The ASME Foundation supports future engineers from K–12 exposure through advanced study and into professional careers. Scholarships and fellowships keep students on track to graduate and enter the field ready for safety-critical work.

Right now, some ASME Foundation scholars and fellows are designing prosthetics for communities without access to medical care. Others are improving the integrity of hydrogen storage systems. Your support helps more aspiring engineers stay enrolled through graduation and enter early work with public benefit.

Expanding Access to Engineering

Not everyone has equal access to the opportunities that lead to an engineering career. When early STEM exposure is limited and later engineering program costs rise, capable students lose the chance to enter the profession.

Women represent just 15% of the engineering workforce, and students from underserved communities face the steepest barriers to entry. Without equal access, the profession cannot produce the engineers needed to deliver medical technologies, clean water, and safe infrastructure to the communities that lack them.

K–12 initiatives

introduce more student to engineering.

Foundation scholarships

cover the tuition costs that often create financial hardships as students near graduation.

Fellowship

then provide early-career engineers a first opportunity to apply technical skills to real-world problems.

Tech incubation programs

help innovators refine prototypes for market and bring engineering solutions to underserved communities around the world.

Seeing that ASME and its donors believe in and support me has not only reinforced my sense of belonging in engineering, but has also opened my eyes to the kind of engineer and person I want to become."
