“The kitchen is no longer smoky!”
Imagine a confined kitchen free from smoke, filled with warmth instead of harmful fumes. Thanks to ASME ISHOW’s winner, PayGo’s Cylinder Smart Meter, this hope became a reality for John Waweru Mwangi, School Headmaster of KYDF Reuben Secondary School. Inspired by CEO Nick Quinton’s discovery of the devastating impact of indoor cooking with dirty fuels, PayGo’s innovation brought vibrancy to residents in Nairobi, Kenya. Simply by making clean fuel accessible and affordable, PayGo, with ASME’s support, transformed lives and fostered health.
The ASME ISHOW hardware competition selected PayGo’s Cylinder Smart Meter as a winner. This groundbreaking device lets users purchase small amounts of clean cooking gas from their phones. With a triumph and a $20,000 grant, PayGo could scale its prototype into a marketable product, poised to revolutionize how people cook and live.
