Dreamers have turned achievers with ASME, like Dr. Columbia Mishra.
ASME’s support played a pivotal role in Columbia’s journey. Her fearless path started after the devastating loss of the Space Shuttle Columbia in 2003; Columbia Mishra delved into the intricacies of the disaster, stoking her resolve to pursue engineering. ASME Foundation scholarships provided her with the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree in engineering. ASME’s additional grant supported her involvement in Engineers without Borders, allowing her to apply her skills to real-world challenges. Columbia engaged in private pilot training in 2020, dreaming of becoming an astronaut. After that, the ASME Early Career Leadership Internship propelled her into the engineering world, where she became a senior thermal engineer at Intel Corporation.
Continuing the space legacy of her role model, Kalpana Chawla, Columbia has empowered young high school students. She encourages them as a role model to think outside the box and showcase ambition to be engineers.
