Technology is advancing at a dizzying pace, requiring engineers to constantly adapt their skills to ever-changing global opportunities. To help keep young engineers engaged in the profession and up to date with market priorities, ASME is creating a comprehensive, easily accessible source for career guidance and resources.

ASME is currently developing the Career Engagement Center (CEC), a hybrid model of online and in-person engagement that helps engineers at every career stage realize their full potential. Participants on the CEC digital platform will develop their professional profiles, explore career roadmaps, pursue licensing and certifications, and gain timely market insights. Leveraging machine learning, the platform will make personalized recommendations appropriate to each user’s location, career stage, and experience. At the same time, ASME’s global network offers a way to connect in person both locally and through areas of technical interest.

“There are millions of bright, young people motivated to take on the good-paying technical jobs that are currently going unfilled, many of whom aren’t aware of and lack access to these opportunities.
Community colleges are ideally suited to help build the technical workforce our country needs. But we can’t do it alone. ASME’s CCEP program is exactly the kind of support we need, bringing together students, academia, business, government, and non-profit organizations in a concerted effort to develop tomorrow’s STEM-oriented workforce.”
