Multichannel program creates new two-year and non-traditional pathways leading to skilled technical roles.

An initiative to create alternative pathways to rewarding technical careers for those with two-year degrees and other certifications.

The Community College Engineering Pathways (CCEP) will expand the skilled technical workforce to help fill the 3.4 million jobs available in STEM-related fields in coming years, while advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion among those long underrepresented in science and technology careers.

Fostering a collaboration among community colleges, government, and industry, the CCEP will help align curriculum with rapidly changing technology; build institutional resources for career development support; and cultivate an employer network accessible to community college students.

“There are millions of bright, young people motivated to take on the good-paying technical jobs that are currently going unfilled, many of whom aren’t aware of and lack access to these opportunities.
Community colleges are ideally suited to help build the technical workforce our country needs. But we can’t do it alone. ASME’s CCEP program is exactly the kind of support we need, bringing together students, academia, business, government, and non-profit organizations in a concerted effort to develop tomorrow’s STEM-oriented workforce.”
